American Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever Mix

My name is Maximus. I was found by the roadside in Texas; but my family never came to find me, so I came all the way to Virginia to find my new Forever Home and family! My foster mom was worried I wouldn't be good on a leash, but I am a very good boy, and I walk beautifully with Mom! I mostly stay by her side, and rarely pull on my leash (except for those pesky squirrels...). When I see other doggos out walking, I just stop to watch. I get along with my foster sister -- I never try to steal her food, even though I am twice her size (but if she leaves some behind, well, I am happy to be part of the cleanup crew!). I am crate trained and housebroken, and when Mom tells me to go to bed, I go without whining or complaining and sleep all night. I love to give kisses and get hugs and pats, and I am very gentle when I reach up to my humans (although Mom keeps telling me I need to improve my manners and stay on all four paws all the time. Humph!). My foster mom says I have a soft mouth -- I think that means I never bite and am gentle when she gives me treats (which I like a lot, so I am trying to learn new commands). We had two cats visit the house recently, and I did not chase them at all. I don't have any real experience with small humans yet, but my foster mom thinks since I am so gentle, I would probably do fine around them. I would love to be part of your family, no matter what size it is! I am a big lovebug and just want to be your best friend. Will you give me a chance?
