Labrador Retriever / Border Collie Mix

Pepper was an owner surrender.  The family that had her was going to be traveling and was unable to take her along.   When she arrived a few months ago, she was very under socialized and lacked basic training.  With lots of love and gentle encouragement from her foster Mom, she has come a long way since then.  She is a very smart girl and a total sweetheart.   She is now crate trained, house trained and knows basic commands (ie: sit, stay, down and fetch). We are working on the 'come' command both on and off leash since she is a bit of an escape artist with certain collars and harnesses.  Pepper loves her foster brother Maxx.  Two of her many favorite things are playing chase and wrestling with Maxx.  She is still a little shy around new people, but once she warms up to you she is a total love bug.  Pepper is learning that being groomed isn't too bad either.   She has even learned to jump in and out of the tub for bath time.  She has the cutest curly tail and thick soft black fur so brushing is a must.  She loves chew toys.  The ones without stuffing are the best.  Pepper loves to be outside to explore.   We go for long walks daily with an occasional run thrown in.  The walks give us the opportunity to work on leash training and socialization.  Occasional when she doesn't recognize a noise or meets a person she is unsure about she will bark or pull in the other direction, but with gentle guidance this is easily corrected.   It will be important that her forever home is a stable one.  As I said, she really is a great dog with a heart of gold.
