Bobbie

Female (Altered) — Date of Birth: 03/20/2009 (15 years old (Senior))
Dachshund / Beagle Mix
Bobbie was left at a WV shelter with six puppies. Her six pups have all gone home and it was time to find Mama Dog her new home. However, when Bobbie was spayed, the vet saw mobility limitations and took x-rays. There is extensive damage and the speculation is that she was hit by a car. Bobbie saw the specialist and it was determined that she needs a bi-lateral Femoral Head Ostectomy which is a fancy (and expensive) way to say that both hips will operated on to surgically remove a portion of the bone so the hips can move correctly. The hope is that this procedure will then align the knee and no more surgery will be needed. It will be a long road to recovery, but we will make sure she is fixed up as good as new. Because of generous supporters, AFH provides the required medical care to the dogs in our care. If you would like to help Bobbie and other dogs who need medical treatment, please make a donation which is 100% tax-deductable. ALL donations go directly to the care of our animals. Donations can be made online via PayPal, JustGive, at any of our adoption events, or can be mailed to: P.O. Box 222801, Chantilly, VA 20153-2801.

Please keep checking here for updates on Bobbie's progress. Bobbie has had a whirlwind of experiences since coming to AFH. She has watched all her pups go GREAT homes while attending numerous adoption events in various locations. She was even on TV ?wow ?here is the link to check her out http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/mornings/adopt-pets-from-a-forever-home-051010 Of course, Bobbie decided to start barking right when we went live, but that is our girl, so full of life! Plus, she was probably making sure there were no squirrels on the set since she takes her squirrel patrols very seriously. Bobbie loves to play at the dog park and gets along with all people and dogs. Bobbie is housetrained and will scratch at the door when she wants in or out. She knows how to sit and shake on command. If you would like to meet Bobbie, please contact AFH. Bobbie is eager to find her forever home so she know she has a great home waiting for her once she has recovered from her surgery. Thank you for supporting AFH so we can continue to provide wonderful care to all of our pups!
