Breed: Shih Tzu
Age: 20 years
Gender: Female (Spayed)

Sophia, Zoey and Murphey were turned into the shelter along with a couple of other dogs because their owner's could no longer afford them. When they arrived they were severly matted and in bad shape but thanks to a kind soul they were all cleaned up and vetted and are now ready for new homes. All three are really sweet and would make anyone an awesome buddy.

Breed: Chinese Crested-Hairless
Age: 15 years
Gender: Female (Spayed)

Zoey is a pure-bred Powderpuff Chinese Crested. Unlike the hairless ones, they have hair all over their body, but can be groomed to be hairless like the more well known breed type. She given up by a breeder who no longer wanted her. She is a sweetie, and loves to cuddle on the couch, she "smiles" lifting her lips to show off her pearly whites--she is so silly!

Zoey has arrived. She is a very playful young girl that turned 3 years old in December. She is great with kids and other dogs but does play hard so would do better with older children. She loves to play fetch and run outside. She loves the dog park and can jump very high! She is very friendly and puts up with our foster puppy very well. She is house trained and crate trained. Zoey is still learning her manners and is working on leash training.

Zoey will be coming to AFH's adoptions shortly, due to medical problems being experienced by her current family. She is currently in a home with a 10 year old and a toddler and is absolutely wonderful with them. She is particularly tolerant of the toddler and would do well with most any child. Zoey also knows a number of commands, including sit, stay, heel, and kennel up. She is also housebroken, crate trained, and chipped. She loves to run and is great on lead.

Zoey was originally found wandering along a road. She is very young and we believe she is a Mastiff mix. She is already 15 pounds so we believe she is going to be a large girl when full grown. Zoey is a beautiful dog – and super smart!  She is extremely loving – especially with my children.

It is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with this little dollbaby, Zoey.  Her sweet kisses and her loving snuggles seem to constantly say “thank you for saving me.”   Zoey would make a great addition to any home.  She is great with other dogs and kids- very submissive in general.  She’s very quiet and timid, though she’s coming out of her shell a little more every day and learning to trust and play.  She doesn’t bark (hasn’t made a single noise the whole time I’ve had her) and she hasn’t had a single accident inside, consistently going to the bathroom outside when she’s on her walks.  She wags her little nub tail and greets you at the door as if you’re the most important person in the world.  So far at night she’s slept in her crate, but after she gets a bit more comfortable I know she’ll love to sleep in my (and your) bed.  Zoey had a very rough past, but it hasn’t dampered her happy, little spirit.  She was rescued from an abusive home where she was left outside, chained to a tree, and covered in bugs her entire life.  She’s never known the love of having “a person” until now.  If Zoey had it her way, she’d spend her day next to you on the couch with a bone to chew and a fuzzy blanket to snuggle in.  If you’d like to meet this baby girl, I’m happy to have any potential adopters come to the house so you can see her in her comfortable environment.  Zoey is looking forward to meeting you and giving you kisses!

Zoey is a sweet little girl. She was a stray who was hit by a car in rural Mississippi. She had a cracked jaw but she has healed and she’s ready for her forever home.

Hi, my name is Zoey, I'm three months old and eleven pounds of great fun. My original owners had to move and AFH made sure I have a fresh start at life through foster care. My foster family describes me as extremely smart, happy and sweet spirited. I am house broken, with a perfect record of no accidents. I am great with people and other dogs. I love playing indoors and out. I may be small but I am lots of fun. If you are looking for a great companion, look no further!

Lola was born on May 14th. At 3 weeks of age she weighed 14 ozs. She was all black at birth, but white and brown markings are popping out every day. When she is 8 weeks old, she will be available for adoption.

Zoie is definitely one of a kind. She is a medium-size young adult with lots of personality. She is extremely sweet, very playful and bonds quickly. She walks well on a leash and is crate trained. She does not require a lot of exercise, a quick walk a couple of times a day and she will be happy. She is a bit shy in new environments, but looks to the people in her life to let her know everything is alright. Zoie is a sweetheart; if you are looking for a dog to be your constant companion, she is the girl for you!

Zola came to us from a rural shelter. She is just a perfect little lady. She would be great in any home.

Age: 19 years

Zooka is a pure-bred, 4 month old, Siberian Husky who was bought by her current owners from a breeder. She was released to AFH when they were unable to pay her medical expenses. According to her owners, she jumped out of the back of their pick-up truck going 55 mph. When they took her to their vet the next day, they were told she needed surgery. They decided not to do the surgery and took the dog home. Later, they brought Zooka back to the vet, after she reinjured her leg jumping around in the back yard. AFH is now paying to have Zooka's leg repaired. The vet expects her to make a complete recovery, and she will be available for adoption in 6 weeks.

Zooma is a handsome boy looking for his forever family. Zooma will be a fantastic, loyal companion. He is a snuggle bug and will gently crawl into your lap on the couch and fall asleep in what seems like an impossibly tiny ball given his size. Zooma likes to play hard and would love a family with another dog or an active lifestyle. He wants to be near his people all the time. Maybe his name should be Shadow 🙂 He may be a bit shy, but that means he isn’t the type to knock you over when you come in the door. Zooma does best with calm children - he’s living with a 5 and 7 year old now. At night, he likes sleeping in a room with his people. Zooma is potty trained, does well in the crate, and knows basic commands. If you’re looking for a fiercely loyal, smart, snuggly companion, Zooma is your boy!

Zora came to AFH with her mom and four siblings. Mom is a Feist mix and dad may have been a Beagle. Zora is just so sweet and loving. We think she will stay on the small side, but who knows for sure?

Zorro was originally brought home as a present for a man who decided he did not want him and was trying to throw him away in the garbage. Thankfully he was caught in the act and Zorro was rescued.

Zotic is a sweet girl who is trying to figure things out.  She's figured out that she loves squeaky toys, rawhide chews, laying at your feet (and lap) and following you around the house.  She is aware of the other dogs in the house and trying to figure out how to interact with them.  Zotic is learning quicly how to walk on a leash, to be in the crate and a few commands like sit. She'd be a great companion and lap puppy addition to any family.

BEING RETURNED: Mikah is Crystal's pup. Crystal is  3/4 Labrador Retriever and 1/4 Great Pyrenees. Dad was a hound mix. Mikah is a great puppy! He gets along wonderfully with his sister Topaz and is fine with other dogs.  He is very gentle with children and not mouthy at all.  He loves chew toys, but his favorite thing is to be petted.  He will push his sister out of the way to be the first to greet you.  He is a little shy at first but warms up quickly.  He is very loving and affectionate and will make a wonderful addition to any family.

Zuma is a playful, friendly guy who gets along with other dogs. He was found wandering the back roads in Mississippi with mange. He’s all better now and looking for a forever home.
