Description: Stan, Sydney, Sandy, Shelby, Sid, Sam, Shiloh, Selma, Selena, Savannah, Shannon, Sue, Sarah, Scout, Storm, and Saber came to us from a shelter in WV. They were born on 1/12/10. Mom was supposed to be a hound and dad was likely a Lab. They look mostly like labs. Sid and Sam is still available for adoption.

Description: Hey Rat Terrier lovers, I'm Simmon (like Nina Simmone the singer). I'm a young adult that's full of energy. I love my foster sisters (labs) and foster kids. I'm friendly with everyone and am just very happy that AFH saved me. I love the backyard and playing with my humans and have found the comfy chair in the house already! I'm full grown and approximately 20 pounds and in very good shape. I can't come to adoption events yet, as I need to see the vet for my shots and such, but my foster mom is really hip and will arrange a meeting if you're interested in meeting me before then! Description: I'm Simon; I am a boxer and lab mix. I am a very handsome man. I was taking out of a very bad situation, thanks to AFH and my foster family. I now have a second chance on a new life and I am being treated right. I am a very affectionate guy, just ask my foster mom I always give her kisses. I am also a little timid when I hear loud noises or when I am told no I get spooked but I will get better. If you would like to meet me, just come to adoption. I will be waiting.

Description: Socks is a Cocker mix. He weighs 33.4 pounds and is a very sweet boy. He likes other dogs, is housetrained, and is good with everyone.

Description: Sophia, Zoey and Murphey were turned into the shelter along with a couple of other dogs because their owner's could no longer afford them. Sophia is very sweet, affectionate and cuddly. She is very well behaved in the house. She is house trained, crate trained and does well on a leash. Sophia prefers to stay on the couch, but does like to play and responds happily to toys and treats. She will make a wonderful addition to a loving home.

Description: Sophie is a pure-bred Chi. She came to us from a puppy mill in Missouri. Sophie has had her two knee surgeries and is just about ready to go to her forever home.

Description: Sophie is a pure-bred, salt and pepper mini Schnauzer. She came to us from a breeder who gave her up because the breeder has medical issues. Sophie was born on 11/16/2005. She will be available for adoption once her pups are weaned.

Description: Sparrow - I am a small basset hound. My foster mom says I must be mixed with something because I just don't quite have the face of a basset. I like to sit in front of the window and relax. I'm very good at walking on a leash but my short legs don't let me walk very fast. I am trying to gain some weight that I lost having my pups. I did a great job as a mom, but now I'm all ready to go to a home where I can just relax. My foster mom says that I get a little too excited about people food and need to just eat dog food, no fun! I am very quiet while I'm inside and do a pretty good job going potty outside.

Description: Sparrow's pups have just arrived at AFH. Their foster mom named them after the Harry Potter Gang:

Harry - My brother and sister always tease me because I am the smallest. My foster mom says that I am still young to have a fully developed personality but she tells me that it is starting to show. I am a very sweet boy who likes to run around and play tug. I do love to cuddle, but I prefer to cuddle with people rather than my siblings. When I play I like to pretend that I'm racing through tunnels by runing under my mom's dog bed.

Ron - I am the biggest. I keep telling my brother and sister that makes me the best. My foster mom says my attitude is as big as my appetite, which is huge! She says that's okay because I love to give kisses which always make her smile. When I play I love to roll on my back which shows off my huge belly.

Hermoine - I am just the right size, in between the size of my two brothers. I have a little bit fluffier fur which makes me so much cooler than them. I am all full of spunk and play. If you let me loose I will just keep running and playing. I love to play with bigger dogs, but I will settle for chewing on my brothers. I am quite vocal and love to boss everyone around.

Description: Taffie (or "Big Red" as her foster family calls her) is House Trained and Crate Trained. Taffie is just a love bug looking a loving rub behind her soft red ears. She is a sweet dog and her bushy red coat is so soft to the touch. Eager to please and be with people of all ages and genders. She is very good natured and very well behaved. She understands the word "No" and is quick to correct, but you must be with her in order for her to realize what you expect her to do. She still has a lot of puppy play in her; she loves playing chase in the big back yard playing with her foster brother Mocha. She is very energetic and a high jumper; so b/c of that we have started to teach her to catch the Frizbee. Taffie is quick to learn just about anything that we have tried to teach her. She will need lots of long walks and long games of catching the Frizbee to keep her a happy and well-behaved doggie.

Description: Tinker was abandoned at an extremely rural high kill shelter with her 5, 2 week old babies. She's a great mom and the pups are very healthy. When she's done playing mom to them, she will be ready for adoption.

Description: These darlings were abandoned at a high kill shelter in WV with their mom. Mommy is a purebred Chihuahua and dad is a purebred Fox Terrier. So far the pups seem to be very healthy and are surely going to be stunners when they grow up.

Description: These two girls were rescued by a nice lady from a man who was selling them from the hatchback of a car. Their mom is having medical issues and she wants to get these sweet babies new homes. Although they are used to each other, they can be placed in separate homes.

Description: Wallie was rescued from Nicholas County shelter after they had a septic system failure which required all animals to be moved or be euthanized. Wallie is a 5 year old male poodle. He is probably pure-bred and is miniature. He is very sweet and very shy.
